Keep your canine companion protected with a vaccination plan.
Vaccinations are a key component in keeping your puppy healthy as they grow. The first set of vaccinations should occur between 6-8 weeks of age, as the natural immunity the puppy has received from his/her mother starts to wane. Booster vaccinations are required every 3-4 weeks, until at least 14 weeks of age. We will advise you which vaccinations we recommend based on your pet’s lifestyle and risk factors.
Vaccines that we offer include Distemper/Adenovirus/Parainfluenza/Parvovirus, Bordetella (kennel cough), Leptospirosis, Lyme, Rabies, and Canine Influenza. Not every vaccine is recommended for every puppy, and we have a discussion with every pet owner about the lifestyle and risks for their pet. Rabies vaccine should be administered at 16 weeks of age. Ontario legislation requires all pets to have the Rabies vaccine. You will be provided with a Rabies certificate and tag.
A puppy’s immune system is not as strong as an adult’s, and puppies are naive to many of the harmful contagious canine diseases. Puppies do receive some natural immunity from their mother, but this starts to decline by the time you bring them home.
Puppies need their first set of vaccinations at 6 to 8-weeks-old. Re-vaccination is then required every 3-4 weeks, until 14-20 weeks of age. We will advise you which vaccinations we recommend based on your pet’s lifestyle.
Congratulations on your new pet! For the first vaccine visit, bring in any paperwork that you brought home with your puppy. A fresh fecal sample is recommended to screen for common intestinal parasites. This sample can be brought in for testing in a poop bag or a clean container. Make a list of any questions or concerns you may have. Take a picture of your puppy’s current diet so that we can assist in feeding guidelines for your growing puppy.
Vaccines can vary in price based on age, lifestyle and risk factors.
